For example, power consumption is automatically adjusted according to connection status and cable length to reduce the network’s carbon footprint.
No power for unused ports
When a computer or network device is off, the associated connection of a traditional switch continues to consume significant amounts of power. The TP-Link TL-SG116E can monitor the connection status of each connection and reduce the power consumption of connections that are inactive, consuming up to 72% less power.
Power budget by cable length.
Ideally, a shorter cable should consume less power and give less power loss. However, this is not the case for most devices as they consume the same amount of power through the cable. The TP-Link TL-SG116E analyzes the length of the connected Ethernet cable and adjusts power consumption accordingly.
