Capestone today announced its expansion with a new Private 4G/5G Networks division, responding to increasing demand for private networks. The division will be led by Cris van Dalen, who joined Capestone on May 1. As a leading specialized distributor and service provider of 4G/5G & IoT networks in Europe, the company can serve its more than 1,000 EMEA channel partners even better through this complete offering. Companies are getting even more control over users, data traffic and devices on the network with private 4G/5G solutions. This presents opportunities for the event industry, construction sites, industries, warehousing and healthcare, among others.

For installations on site, we have signed a cooperation agreement with VolkerWessel Telecom. As usual, our partners benefit from short lines of communication, our technical and commercial expertise and full support on both hardware and connectivity. They can also distinguish themselves well with our entire portfolio. Where a wifi network is insufficient for certain use cases due to capacity, security, latency and coverage, Private 4G/5G offers a solution. A division that complements our current offering and is in a growth market,” said Jos Ouwerkerk CEO Capestone.
Capestone has recruited Cris van Dalen to lead its Private 4G/5G Networks division. Cris has worked at RadioAccess, King & Hartman and Cellnex, among others. With Cris van Dalen on board, this division can grow successfully through his expertise and network. “In a world where data plays an increasing role and where mobile data is increasingly the standard, a stable and reliable network cannot be missing. Private 4G and 5G networks will take a larger share of this, especially where data demand is high or where availability is essential for (business) processes. Because spectrum will become available in the 3.5GHz band at the end of this year, 5G networks that meet the required specifications can be rolled out in the Netherlands. This will increase the use cases enormously. I am therefore looking forward to supporting our partners in (sales) discussions, but also in working out the possible solution, making designs and monitoring via our NOC. Capestone now offers all the building blocks for an environment where (mobile) communication is indispensable and must be reliable,” said Cris van Dalen.
The architecture of a private mobile network has some similarities to public mobile networks and WiFi networks but also some significant differences. For example, there are 4G/5G Access Points, also called eNodeB (4G LTE) or gNodeB (5G New Radio) basestations, which provide indoor or outdoor coverage by emitting a 4G LTE / 5G signal that is received by devices within the network. These Radio Points are virtually and software linked together and behave as 1 complete network so that users do not experience call drops as they walk through the building with their mobile devices. All 5G Indoor and Outdoor Radio Points are linked to Baseband Controllers via an Ethernet LAN connection. A Baseband Controller is responsible for performing all baseband processes and planning, and coordinates the transmitter and receiver functions for all radio points. The Baseband Controller is then linked to an Internet connection for connection to the Private Core Network.
